CD recording with The Wave Quartet

Following the highly acclaimed CD "Bach Concertos", the Wave Quartet progresses further into the baroque music world with their new project "Senza Ripieno". One can discover dedicated interpretations of masterpieces by J.S.Bach, J. Mattheson and G. Le Roux. Performing works for originally two harpsichords on four Marimbas the Quartet leads the listener into an intimate, never before heard soundscape, respecting the manners and style of baroque music.

Peter Sadlo's notes about the CD 'Bach Concertos'

Let me say a few personal words about this CD, since Bogdan Bacanu has now been a special friend for many years. When he spoke to me about his new project for the first time, I was uncertain what the result would be. Would the four marimbas - which may really be looked at as modern instruments - match with the baroque music of JS Bach? But what stimulates a musician stronger than the desire to satisfy his curiosity?

From the first rehearsal on, I was enthralled! Today I can say that the venture was worthwhile. The result demonstrates how lucid the depth of JS Bach's mastery is made by the modern sounds of the marimba.

There are not many composers whose charisma defines itself over and over again through the changes of time like JS Bach. His music has inspired many great artists to interpret his works in innovative musical and tonal ways.

On this recording Bogdan Bacanu documents - together with Emiko Uchiyama, Vladimir Petrov, Christoph Sietzen and 'Salzburg Barock' Ensemble on period instruments - an acoustical and thrilling time step within baroque string culture and the percussive tone colours of the marimba.

An exciting project: lively and caring musicians and simply fantastic music!
