Ji Hye Jung Wins the 2006 Linz International Marimba Competition

Ji Hye Jung

(from: adams-musical.com - 2009) Korean marimba player Ji Hye Jung emerged as the winner of the first Linz International Marimba Competition. The competition included 75 candidates from 29 countries and according to its Artistic Director, Bogdan Bacanu, “ showed what great talent there is in this new generation of marimba players”.

Ji Hye Jung

Miss Jung’s extraordinary combination of musical insight and technical exactitude was astonishing. She is 21 years of age and presently completing her undergraduate studies with Prof. Robert van Sice at the Peabody Conservatory in the United States. First Prize included an Adams 5 octave marimba which she will perform on during a very busy concert season next year. She will tour Europe during May of 2007 and release her first solo CD leter that summer. She will also be performing throughout the United States in recital next season.

All of us at Adams send our warmest congratulations to Ji Hye Jung and all the wonderful marimba players that treated Linz to a "marimba extravaganza" this summer !

1st Prize Ji Hye Jung (Korea)
2nd Prize Anne-Julie Caron (Canada)
