Round one: (15 minutes playing time for each candidate).

2 – One of the following pieces:
          Toshimitsu Tanaka – Two Movements for Marimba (one movement possible)
          N. J. Zivkovic – Ilijas
          Keiko Abe – Variations on Japanese Children’s Songs
          Mark Ford – Kingdome Lore Fanfare


Round two: (30 minutes playing time for each candidate).

1 – J. S. Bach: Prelude and Menuet 1 + 2 or Bourrée 1 + 2 or Gavotte 1 + 2 
      out of Six Cello Suites (Bärenreiter Urtext Edition)
      (Example:   - Prelude and Menuet 1 + 2 out of Cello Suite 2
                           - Prelude and Bourrée 1 + 2 out of Cello Suite 3
                           - Prelude and Gavotte 1 + 2 out of Cello Suite 5)

2 – One of the following pieces:
          Toshi Ichiyanagi – The Source
          Peter Klatzow – Dances of Earth and Fire
          Jacob Druckman – Reflections on the Nature of Water (single movements possible)
          Joseph Schwantner – Velocities
          Andrew Thomas – Merlin
          Minoru Miki – Time for Marimba
          Alejandro Vinao – Khan Variations
          Paul Lansky – Three Moves for Marimba
          Yasuo Sueyoshi – Mirage pour Marimba

2 – Recital! (minimum playing time 10 minutes, maximum playing time: 20 minutes)
Each finalist should play one or more free choice pieces that represents him and his personality the best!

 

NB: The number of participants is limited, and priority will be given to those who register first. Your registration is only valid when the office receives your application fee and all required documents.
