Ivana Bilic

Born in 1970. in a family of musicians. Ivana studied percussion with prof. Igor Lesnik and graduated percussion on the Zagreb Music Academy in 1993. She attended various master classes with K. Abe, S. Fink, K. Tresselt and J. Geoffroy.
Bilic made solo appearances with the Symphony Orchestra of the Danish Radio, Slovenian Philharmony, Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radio, Pannon Philharmony, Danubia Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Varazdin Chamber Orchestra, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Split Navy Orchestra, Orchestra of the Ivan Zajc Opera in Rijeka.
She performs on international festivals ( Music Biennale Zagreb, Musicora Paris, Melos Ethos Bratislava, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Trieste Contemporanea, Tempus Fugit Tel Aviv, Julian Rachlin and Friends…) and is a member of several chamber music groups.
In 1998. Ivana received the Best Young Croatian Artist Award and
was awarded with Milka Trnina for best concert performance in 2003.
Since 1996. Bilic is 1. timpanist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and faculty at the Zagreb Music Academy.
Bilic regularly records for Radio and Television.
Ivana received 2 Porin Awards – prestigious Croatian Discographic Award - for best performance in the classical field
- in 2001. for her debut solo CD Follow me (she also performed on the Final TV Show)
- in 2004. for her solo appearance in the Marimba concerto by I. Kuljeric on CD Igor Kuljeric – Contemporary Croatian Composers .
 
Ivana performs, arranges and co-edits new works for percussion.
She regularly gives marimba and percussion clinics and masterclasses in USA, South America and Europe ( Festival de marimbistas, Chiapas, Mexico 2004, faculty at the Zeltsman Marimba Festival in Boston 2004 and Appleton 2007, guest artist at the Belgium Marimba Competition and Festival 2004, appearances at PASIC 2002 and 2006, jury member and clinician PAS Italy Percussion Days, guest artist and clinician at Alcoy 2007 Percussion course in Spain)
She received enthusiastic reviews for her performances of Schwantner Percussion Concerto, Mac Millan`s Veni Veni Emmanuel percussion concerto, Philip Glass Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists with Jonathan Haas and Igor Kuljeric Marimba Concerto.
Ivana is the author of several marimba solos and a duo published by Malletworks.
She will take part in the huge international commissioning project of
ZMF New Music for Marimba in association with C. F. Peters Corporation and Bridge records as one of the few marimbists that will premiere and record the commissioned works.
Her new signature line of Marimbaone marimba mallets will be premiered at 2008. Frankfurt Messe
